Ontario’s regulated iGaming market continues to thrive in its second year. The latest report from iGaming Ontario demonstrates significant market growth on a year-to-year basis. The report focuses on key metrics and highlights the continuous expansion of Ontario’s iGaming industry.


Q1 2024–25 Highlights:

  • Total Wagers: $18.4 billion, a 3.4% increase from the previous quarter and a 31% rise from Q1 last year.

  • Total Gaming Revenue: $726 million, a 5.2% increase from Q4 and a 34% year-over-year increase. This includes total cash wagers, rake fees, and tournament fees, excluding player winnings and operating costs.

  • Operators and Gaming Websites: 50 regulated operators with 80 active gaming websites.

  • Active Player Accounts: Nearly 1.9 million active accounts, including cash and promotional wagering activity. This is up significantly from the previous year’s 920,000.

  • Average Player Spend: $284 monthly per active player account, a noteworthy increase from last year’s $197.


Wagers and Gaming Revenue by Category:

  • Casino Games: $15.5 billion in wagers (84%) and $529 million in revenue (73%).

  • Betting: $2.5 billion in wagers (14%) and $181 million in revenue (25%).

  • Peer-to-Peer Poker: $402 million in wagers (2%) and $16 million in revenue (2%).


Ontario’s iGaming market showed strong growth in Q1 2024–25, with increases in total wagers, gaming revenue, and active player accounts. Martha Otton, Executive Director of iGaming Ontario, stated in the report that, “The revenue generated by Ontario’s competitive iGaming market contributes directly to provincial priorities such as infrastructure, healthcare, and education,” highlighting the sector’s broader impact. Ontario’s continued market growth will be a big inspiration for other provinces and territories looking to launch their own regulated iGaming and sports betting markets soon.
